EUIPO offers an official watch service through its eSearch platform. It covers EUIPO filings and can send alerts. It is free for basic use. The downside is that the matching is relatively simple and the interface requires some familiarity with trademark terminology.
These are built for law firms and large brand portfolios. They offer comprehensive monitoring across dozens of registers, sophisticated similarity analysis, and legal workflow tools. Pricing starts around 300-500 euros per month and goes up significantly from there. For a single trademark owner, this is more than necessary.
Built for small brand owners with one or two trademarks who want daily monitoring without the enterprise price. Watches EUIPO daily. Compares new filings by name similarity and, on paid plans, logo similarity. Free for one trademark. Solo plan at 15 euros per month covers two trademarks including logo monitoring.
It does not have the breadth of enterprise tools and does not cover registers outside the EU. For a brand operating in Europe, that covers the main risk.
If you have one trademark and a limited budget: start with the free tier of a monitoring tool and do occasional manual checks as backup. If you have a logo that is a core part of your brand: a paid plan that includes logo monitoring is worth the cost. If you manage ten or more trademarks across multiple markets: you are probably already looking at dedicated trademark management software.
